Clinic (+/- ED)

Spend summer 2027 practicing medicine in Whitehorse. This three-month locum, from June through August, is an opportunity for a new graduate or an experienced physician looking for a change of pace. Choose clinic work alone, or combine it with emergency medicine shifts to suit your interests and experience.

CLINIC

  • 3 days/week of clinic
  • Appts all pre-booked, based on how many patients and appt. duration per day.
  • MOA, shared nurse and support staff provided throughout coverage.
  • Approximately 25% of the Yukon’s population are indigenous peoples

EMERGENCY MEDICINE:

  • Day-time shifts: 5-7 hours, 3 physicians
  • Evening-shifts: 5-9 hours, 1-2 physicians
  • 2-3 shifts per week (5-7 hours each)
  • We have an OR, CT and MRI in Whitehorse as well as access to ultrasound. Sometimes access to certain imaging is not always available at all hours though. For surgical services we have resident general surgery, OB/gyn, orthopedics, visiting ophtho and ENT. We have resident psychiatry, peds psych and pediatrics. We have visiting specialist clinics with IM, Cardio, Rheum, Derm, Neuro, limited GI, nephro, physiatrist and some peds subspecialities come up also.
  • Meditech is the hospital EMR system.

Remuneration

  • FFS (view our Fee Schedule here)
  • Clinic is FFS
  • No overhead in clinic and clinic physicians can expect to make between $1200-$1500 per full day (depending on patient volume)
  • ED is a combination of hourly rate, FFS and On-call stipends.
  • Paid paperwork time offered.

Travel, accomodations and licensing will be reimbursed.
